ESFM is proud to announce two rising facilities management stars have been selected as the recipients of the 2021 IFMA Foundation Scholarship, sponsored by ESFM. The International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) is the largest and most widely recognized association for facility management professionals.

Claudio Bastardo is a senior and an honors student at the New York City College of Technology. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in facilities management with the goal of becoming a chief engineer.

Rose SashaniRose Sashani, a 4.0 student and a senior, is pursuing a master’s degree in energy management at the New York Institute of Technology. In addition to her graduate program, Sashani is also working to obtain a LEED Green Associate certification to stand out as a professional with a thorough understanding of green building principles and practices.

Both have been named among this year’s winners of an IFMA Foundation Scholarship and will receive $1,500 towards their tuition. The scholarship also covered admission and travel expenses to attend IFMA’s World Workplace event at the Gaylord Resort in Kissimmee, Florida.

“Investing in students like Claudio and Rose is about more than giving back to our industry,” said David Hogland, President of ESFM. “ESFM thrives in part due to a culture of continual professional investment in our people—all of which contributes to smarter, more prepared leaders in the facilities management arena.”

Over 60 applicants vied for the annual scholarship based on multiple criteria. Candidates were required to be members of IFMA currently seeking degrees in the facility management or energy management field. Technical skills and the applicant’s geography were also taken into consideration.

Bastardo and Sashani both displayed strong academic accomplishments to date and concise plans for achieving their academic and professional aspirations for the future.
